FAQ
Where do sessions take place?
My studio is located in a private, detached building on my property in East Islip, NY, offering a comfortable and dedicated space for your photography session.
Do you have a restroom available?
Sessions take place in a detached studio on my property in East Islip, NY. Please note that there is not a restroom located within the studio space itself, so I encourage clients to plan accordingly before arriving. In the event that a restroom is needed during your session, access can be provided through our home. Please note that any time spent away from the studio during your scheduled session will count toward your reserved session time.
How far in advance should I book my session?
I recommend booking as early as possible to ensure availability, especially for newborn sessions and holiday portraits. However, feel free to reach out even if your preferred date is approaching.
When should I schedule my newborn session?
I recommend booking your newborn session during your second or third trimester to ensure availability around your due date. Since babies often arrive on their own schedule, we'll reserve a tentative timeframe and finalize the exact session date once your little one arrives. Newborn sessions are typically photographed within the first 5-14 days after birth, when babies are often sleepier and more easily posed. However, beautiful newborn images can be captured at any age, so please don't hesitate to reach out if your baby has already arrived.
What is your rescheduling policy?
One of the benefits of having an indoor studio is that sessions are rarely impacted by weather. The studio is equipped with heating and air conditioning, allowing us to photograph comfortably year-round. In the event of severe weather conditions, such as a snowstorm or other circumstances that may impact safety, I will reach out to reschedule your session.
If you need to reschedule, I kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice whenever possible. If your child is sick, please let me know as soon as possible so we can find a new date and time that works for both of us. For the health and safety of all clients and my family, I do not photograph children who are actively sick. If your child arrives visibly ill, the session may be postponed and rescheduled.
My goal is to provide a comfortable experience for everyone while ensuring your family looks and feels their best during your session.
What if my child doesn't cooperate during the session?
As a mom and someone who has spent a lifetime around children, I completely understand that little ones can have off days. My sessions are designed with patience and flexibility in mind, and I will do everything I can to help your child feel comfortable and engaged throughout our time together. In most cases, we're able to capture beautiful images even when children need a little extra time to warm up.
What should we wear for our session?
Simple is always best! I recommend selecting a color palette and coordinating rather than matching exactly. Try to avoid clothing with large logos, busy patterns, neon colors, or graphics that may distract from the focus of the images—you and your loved ones.
Pinterest can be a wonderful source of inspiration when planning outfits. Searching terms like "family photo outfit inspiration," "neutral family photos," or "newborn session outfits" can help you visualize color combinations and styles that work well together. Most importantly, wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident. When you feel good, it shows in your photographs.
